Carbohydrates are the polymers of monosaccharides (sugar residues) which are linked by glycosidic bonds. Their most important function is the storage of energy in plants (starch) and animals (glycogen) and they comprise structural elements in plants.
Lipids are building blocks of fatty acids and glycerol linked by ester bonds, that are simple nlipids.
